“Fast Life” presents itself as a highly playful and upbeat R&B track, incorporating hip-hop elements that can be found in both the lyrical writing and the vocal delivery in the verses. A key reference for this piece was Bruno Mars’ renowned album 24K Magic, which greatly helped in defining not only the stylistic direction of the arrangement but also its sonic character.
The light-hearted and joyful nature of the song called for a sonic approach that would reflect such an attitude. Therefore, I focused on achieving maximum clarity and crispness across all musical elements. This was done without sacrificing the punch in the low frequencies, which is especially crucial for the funky groove of the synth bass—one of the track’s key elements.
Fast Life was produced during my fourth year of studies, a time when I was fully immersed in writing my thesis and working on three music projects—this track being part of one of them—that allowed me to complete my undergraduate degree with excellent results.
This song embodies years of study and research, culminating in a highly immersive project that is musically and sonically complex, yet sincere and joyful, with the same sense of ease and lightness that characterizes its reference models.
